The Ocean (Haiku)

The Ocean
Large mass of water
There are seven in the world
Filled with yummy fish.

French Fries (Couplet)

My favourite French fries in the world,
Are the ones that are straight, not curled.

Superiority (Free verse)

Sometimes I feign superiority,
It is however not my priority.
The reason for it is because it will improve self-esteem,
Not that I have a low one I mean.
It boosts your performance,
In things such as academics or athletics,
For If you think you are superior,
You don’t believe your opponent has the right to win.
Don’t think I’m arrogant, crazy or mad,
Me semi-personally giving you this message,
Just be glad.

A Great War (Quatrain)

A world war is born in a depressed land
Out of the womb of its predecessor.
Both sides have unlikely allies in hand,
This war will find the land’s true successor.

Blood (Haiku)

Blood
The water of life.
As more and more of it spills,
You start to grow weak.

Trust (Couplet)

Trust is something we must earn,
That is a lesson some people cannot learn.

Rise and Fall (Quatrain)

All great people rise,
All great people fall,
No matter how strong or how wise,
They will answer death’s call.

Gasoline (Haiku)

Gasoline
Middle Easter Gold
Dependence on this is high
                                                              Supply Depleting.

White Scars (Free Verse)

White scars are all over my dark body,
Each with its own story to tell,
Some were from accidents long ago,
Some from when I tried to sew,
Some might find my scars funny,
But I like them.
Each reminds me of my past,
Which I would like to keep inside me,
Like methane gas.

Civil War in my Mind (Shakespearean sonnet)

Civil war has broken out in my mind,
However that’s not uncommon to find.
It is like there are two versions of me,
Always fighting, for they cannot agree.

Part of me sees only in black and white.
He cares only for rules, not for what’s right,
He is like a paragon of the law,
Which I’m sure you can see is a great flaw.

His counterpart is full of compassion,
Which he won’t ever willingly ration.
The one problem is he suffers from guilt,
Even if it’s only milk he has spilt.

I wish only for this fighting to end,
So that my mind will have a chance to mend.

Fighting Vs. Diplomacy (Diamante)

Fighting,
Brutal, Bloody,
Shouting, Hurting, Punching,
War, Dispute, Peace, Anti-violent
Talking, Understanding Befriending,
Clean, Difficult,
Diplomacy.

Pain Versus Pleasure (Free Verse)

Pain versus pleasure
Is something we must all must face.
Do you choose to watch television for temporary comfort,
Or do you do your work, for temporary discomfort.
Procrastination plays a large role,
Putting of work might be easy,
But as work piles up,
It’ll make you uneasy.

Death Trap (Quatrain)

“That boat is a death trap”,
William exclaimed,
“Don’t worry old chap”,
“It’ll be fine” I claimed.

Guns (Haiku)

Guns
Bang, bang goes the gun,
Guns are like the Grim Reaper,
Taking lives away.

War (Quatrain)

War erupts on a once peaceful land,
As black ashes and smoke fill the air,
Death comes, wrapping the world in his hand,
Filling it with despair.

Submarines (Quatrain)

Submarines are the mechanical fish of the sea.
As they submerge beneath the depths with glee,
They use sonar to talk like dolphins or whales,
And show off their shiny, metal scales.

Rain (Haiku)

Rain
Like the tears of god,
Comes when the blue sky turns black,
Brings many things life.

Heroes (Free verse)

Some think heroes are people,
Who have come back from a glorious fight,
Although they are not necessarily wrong,
They are absolutely not right.
Heroes are everyday people,
Believe it or not,
They could be policemen, firemen,
Or even your mother, who wiped off your snot.

Stars (Quatrain)

Stars light up the dark night sky,
Like a lighthouse light, they catch our eye.
And as they fall from the heavens in flame,
It creates a sight that will put a diamond to shame.

Justice vs Injustice (diamante)

Justice,
Orderly, Lawful,
Enforcing, Arresting, Protecting,
Policemen, Courts, Criminal, Slavery
Abusing, Stealing, Betraying
Chaotic, Unfair
Injustice.

Insanity (free verse)

Insane is what people would say I am.
But they don’t understand that insanity is like a blessing,
Not a curse.
Do they once again see deceased loved ones roaming around?
Do they have friends that no one can see?
Do they have a voice inside their heads always telling them they’re right?
Do they have jokes only they would laugh at?
No they don’t,
They don’t have these wonderful, wondrous gifts that are bestowed upon me,
Because
Insane is what people would say I am.

Cherry Blossoms (Haiku)

Cherry Blossoms
Gracefully flying,
Though they rarely come outside,
An amazing sight.

Fish (free verse)

Glub, Glub, Glub goes the fish,
Fueled by boredom, I stare into its bowl.
He is gleefully swimming around, without a care in the world.
It is truly times like these that my thoughts go awry
And wonder if the fish is in the bowl, or I.

Time (haiku)

Time
Clocks convey it well,
As it slowly creeps by us,
We silently age.

Completing the First Assignment

I chose the name of my blog because i felt it needed to describe me in some ways. I don't need to explain what the CHANADIAN connects to. I decided to choose the simple design mainly because i didn't like the other templates and i felt that the "simple" template would be underused.
I plan to write my poems on a variety of topics because i don't want to limit my capabilities to one subject.
